Trail and River Guides
If you’re not in the woods or on the Lehigh River, you don’t know what you’re missing.
The mountain laurel is already blooming in the Poconos. The blossoms last for only a couple of weeks. This means that you need to explore the forest trails by foot or by wheel before the coming fortnight has passed, or you will miss the splendor of Pennsylvania’s State flower.
If you don’t know where the trails are located, you can find them in my Lehigh Gorge Trail Guide, available for purchase on my website: ggentile.com. This trail guide shows paths, single tracks, ATV trails, and jeep roads for the mountains that surround the Lehigh River upstream of the Lehigh Gap, in the area known as the Pocono Mountains.
The same goes for paddling. My Lehigh River Paddling Guide describes not only the Lehigh River, from its origin to its confluence with the Delaware River, but all the runnable tributaries that flow into the Lehigh River, as well as the canal segments that still exist from yesteryear.
So don’t wait. Get out there in the woods or on the streams where you won’t have to worry about meeting throngs of people – just lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Or maybe deer and turkeys instead. Exercise is good for your health.
